Project Summary
The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) began a roadway project on June 12, 2024 along State Road (SR) 976/SW 40 Street/Bird Road from east of SW 87 Avenue to west of SW 58 Avenue.
WORK TO BE PERFORMED
- Reconstructing sidewalks and upgrading pedestrian curb ramps
- Installing a new traffic signal at SW 62 Avenue
- Enhancing s pedestrian crosswalks at the following intersections: SW 84 Avenue, SW 82 Avenue, SW 79 Avenue, SW 7800 Block, SW 74 Avenue, SW 72 Avenue, SW 67 Avenue, SW 62 Avenue
- Eliminating the left turn from southbound SW 60 Court to eastbound SW 40 Street
- Eliminating the left turn from northbound SW 60 Court to westbound SW 40 Street
- Eliminating the left turns from westbound SW 40 Street to southbound SW 59 Avenue and SW 62 Court
- Modifying the concrete median at SW 61 Avenue to eliminate the through movement at the intersection
- Upgrading vehicular and pedestrian signals, signage, and pavement markings
- Extending the westbound SW 40 Street left turn lanes at SW 72 Avenue, SW 67 Avenue and SW 62 Avenue
- Upgrading streetlights to Light-emitting Diode (LED)
- Repaving and restriping the roadway
LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION
Travel lanes and sidewalks will be closed during non-peak hours on non-event days. Non-peak hours are:
Single Lane Closures
- 9 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. weekdays and weekends
- 7 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays and weekends
Double Lane Closures
- 10 p.m. to 6 a.m. weekdays and weekends
DETOUR INFORMATION
Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established at times and may exceed past the non-peak lane closures hours. Specific detour information will be provided before the corresponding construction activity is scheduled.
