TRANSPORTATION

The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin bridge replacement project during the month of October 2024 along SR 90/SW 8 Street in Miami-Dade County.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED

• Installing a pedestrian bridge over SW 8 Street and the C-4 Canal, west of SW 109 Avenue
• Providing pedestrian plazas with elevators and stairs on the north-end and south-end landings of the pedestrian bridge
• Installing a signalized east/west crosswalk along SW 109 Avenue, north of SW 7 Terrace
• Upgrading pedestrian signals, signs and curb ramps
• Closing existing historical bridge over the C-4 Canal east of SW 109 Avenue
• Eliminating north/south crosswalks at the SW 8 Street and SW 109 Avenue intersection
• Removing remaining portions of existing structure in conflict with proposed improvements

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.

Lanes can be closed during the following hours:

• 10 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday nights
• 11 p.m. to 6 a.m., Friday and Saturday nights

FDOT will implement a full closure of the intersection during overhead operations, redirecting eastbound and westbound traffic.

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained.
