The Florida Department of Transportation (FDOT) is scheduled to begin a roadway project the week of August 8, 2024 along SW 8 Street in Miami-Dade County.

WORK TO BE PERFORMED

  • Adding six signalized mid-block pedestrian crossings along SW 8 Street to
    provide connectivity in the following locations:
    • Between SW 65 Avenue and SW 64 Avenue
    • Between SW 64 Avenue and SW 63 Avenue
    • Between SW 56 Avenue and SW 55 Avenue
    • Between SW 49 Avenue and SW 48 Avenue
    • Between SW 36 Avenue and SW 35 Avenue
    • Between SW 29 Avenue and SW 27 Avenue
  • Installing pedestrian ramps, detectable warning surfaces, signage, pavement markings, countdown signals and pushbuttons
  • Reconstructing damaged sidewalks and removing abandoned driveways
  • Upgrading existing light poles with light-emitting diodes (LED) at various locations
  • Repaving and restriping the roadway

LANE CLOSURE INFORMATION

Work will be done in phases to reduce the effects of construction on the community.  Lanes can be closed during the following hours:

  • 9:30 p.m. to 5:30 a.m., Sunday through Thursday
  • 11 p.m. to 7 a.m., Friday and Saturday

 

Access to businesses and residences will be maintained. Lane closure information is posted weekly on the department's website, www.southflroads.com.
 
DETOUR INFORMATION

Pedestrian and vehicular detours will be established at times and may exceed past the non-peak lane closures hours. Specific detour information will be provided before the corresponding construction activity is scheduled.
